Access is the software present in the Microsoft Office suite to create and manage databases compatible with the applications developed at Redmond. If we want to work with these files but we don't have Office for Mac it could be a good idea to get hold of a program to open them and their content. We're talking about programs like MDB ACCDB Viewer.
You can only view the data, there's no chance to make requests or modify data.
Jun 24, 2017 I bought this the day it came out on the MAS, and I have to say I have not regretted it. Whilst I do also have the ODBC drivers from Actual (which are very good), this tool saves me needing to go via Excel - many of my clients send me data as MDB and ACCDB files for me to process in MySQL and the tool supports this with export options for various formats, including MySQL, SQLite and CSV.
With its Full version, we can open from our Mac all our Access databases, regardless of whether their format is the old MDB or the newest ACCDB. With the latter, accessing files is simple and fast, and it also allows us to export databases to other formats that are much more comfortable to work with.
A true Access reader and viewer
The app also offers detailed instructions to transfer information to other applications so it's definitely very useful to handle all the information in our Microsoft databases. It's really worthwhile purchasing its serial number to make the most of all its features:
- Explore, search and export data.
- Compatible with the following Access formats: MD, ACCDB, MDE and ACCDE.
- Advanced searches to easily find whatever you're looking for.
- Double click on rows to shows long fragments of text or images.
- Compatible with other formats such as Excel, CSV and SQL.
- Instructions to export databases to Filemaker, Bento, Excel, Numbers, OpenOffice, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and Address Book.
- Minimum operating system requirements: Mac OS X 10.6.
- Requires a 64-bit operating system.
MDB ACCDB Viewer 2.2.7
MDB/ACCDB Viewer lets you open Microsoft Access databases on your Mac -- regardless of whether they are in the olderMDB or the newer ACCDB format. A convenient search function lets you find what you are looking for. Double-clicking rows brings up a record window, perfect for reading long text or inspecting images.
MDB Viewer plays nice with others: export your database as Excel files, as CSV files, convert it to SQLite, or create SQL dumps. Because all apps have their unique intricacies, the documentation includes detailed instructions for transferring your data to Filemaker, Bento, Excel, Numbers, Open Office, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and Address Book.
While MDB Viewer shows all the data stored in the database, it can not display forms or queries, and it can not modify databases.
